Maxim Roofing didn’t begin with a business plan or a vision statement. It began the way a lot of real careers do – by showing up, needing a job, and learning fast.
Back in 1997, Jeff found his way into roofing fresh out of high school. It wasn’t the plan. But once he got into the work, it stuck. Roofing wasn’t repetitive. Every building was different. Every roof had its own problems. And every decision showed up later – sometimes years later.
Those early years were spent in commercial roofing, learning from experienced tradesmen and mentors who treated roofing like a craft, not a transaction. Along the way, Jeff learned things that still guide Maxim today:
- How roofing systems actually fail
- Why shortcuts always come back
- How small details create big problems down the road
That hands-on education became the foundation for everything Maxim would later become.
Becoming Maxim Roofing
In 2012, Jeff took over Maxim Roofing with a clear goal: build a company that could handle complex roofing and exteriors the right way.
Not faster.
Not flashier.
Just right.
From the beginning, one belief guided every decision: There is no single “right” roof – only the right roof for the building. That means slowing down and paying attention to things many contractors overlook:
- How the property is used day to day
- What equipment sits on the roof
- How often the roof is accessed
- What the owner actually needs long-term
Sometimes that leads to tougher recommendations. Sometimes it means telling a customer that the cheaper option will cost more later. Not everyone wants to hear that – but the right customers do.
Roofers Leading The Work
As Maxim grew, one thing never changed: The people making decisions were roofers, not pencil pushers.
Jeff brings nearly 30 years of hands-on experience, supported by a team of long-time professionals who have seen just about everything this industry can throw at you. Projects aren’t handed off and forgotten – they’re closely overseen from start to finish.
That includes:
- Internal quality checks before work is considered complete
- Detailed walk-throughs on commercial projects
- Fixing issues early, before they become bigger problems

No long-standing company avoids hard moments. What defines Maxim isn’t perfection – it’s how those moments are handled.
There have been times when:
- Fixing a problem meant absorbing extra cost
- Redoing work made more sense than patching it
- Stepping in was the right thing – even when it wasn’t Maxim’s mess
- Those decisions don’t always show up in photos or reviews. But they matter.
As Jeff puts it: “Our name is gold. And we protect it.”
Staying Local On Purpose
Maxim Roofing has always believed that if you work in a community, you should invest in it.
That shows up in everyday ways—supporting local schools, sports teams, and churches – and in deeper partnerships with organizations like Pink Ribbon Good and Violence Free Futures, which support people facing cancer and domestic violence right here in the Dayton area.
You’ll even see it rolling down the road in one of Maxim’s pink trucks, helping raise awareness and support wherever it goes.
To us, giving back isn’t about attention.
It’s about responsibility.
Looking Ahead
Today, Maxim Roofing is run with the future in mind.
Jeff’s son has joined the company and is learning the trade the same way his father did – on the roof, in the field, earning it. The goal isn’t just to keep Maxim Roofing Co. running. It’s to build something strong enough to last without losing the standards that built it.
That means:
